Bessie Top
Bessie was my first ever pattern release. And while it has a special place in my heart, I’ll be honest, design-wise, it’s not quite where I want it to be. I’ve thought about archiving it more than once, so consider this your soft warning label.
That said, if you’re into experimenting or curious about what my early work looked like, Bessie has some fun features. There are two views. View A has a longer sleeve that can be rolled up and a high-low hem. View B is a button-up with a two-piece collar, a shorter sleeve, and a straight hem.
Both versions feature exaggerated raglan sleeves with unusual seam lines that add visual interest. The fit is loose and easy to wear, and bust darts give it a bit of shaping. You can mix and match sleeves and hems if you’re feeling bold.
The pattern was professionally drafted and graded, so the foundation is solid, even if I’ve evolved a bit since then.
